Topsil attended SDU Power Electronics Workshop

Last week, Topsil was invited at the workshop “Designing Power Electronics and Energy Storage Systems: Current and Future Trends” at Centre for Industrial Electronics (CIE) Syddansk Universitet – University of Southern Denmark with a presentation given by Benoît Bidoggia.

The presentation addressed RF power generation for industrial RF heating, and discussed how such systems are currently implemented and where limitations arise with vacuum-tube-based generators.

Benoit introduced the ongoing GreenHeat project, a collaboration between Topsil GlobalWafers A/S, Aalborg University and Kallesoe Machinery A/S. The project, funded by the Innovation Fund Denmark, focuses on the development of solid-state RF generators and their integration into industrial heating systems, combining academic research with industrial requirements.

The role of float-zone silicon and ultra-pure silicon was discussed in relation to high-power semiconductor devices such as IGBTs, diodes, and MOSFETs, as well as ongoing development work at Topsil spanning from early R&D up to today’s 300 mm float-zone project and float-zone crystals for quantum technologies.

Thank you RamKrishan Maheshwari for inviting.
